A commanding officer with the Presidential Security Detail (Paspampres) is being investigated for the alleged rape of an army lieutenant, as confirmed by Indonesian Military Commander General Andika Perkasa.
The suspect, an infantry major at Paspampres known by the initials BF, allegedly raped a lieutenant with the 3rd Army Strategic Reserves Command (Kostrad) known by the initials GER while both were on security duty at the G20 Summit in Bali last month.
"[The investigation] is on; it has gone directly to a criminal investigation," Andika told reporters in Jakarta on Thursday.
According to reports, GER was not feeling well on the evening of the alleged rape and had retired to her hotel room.
BF then knocked on her door and insisted on being let in under the pretense of a security briefing. GER soon passed out from exhaustion, and realized when she woke the next day that BF had raped her.
BF is currently under Military Police detention.
In addition to the criminal investigation, Andika said that BF is set for termination from Paspampres as the agency falls under the Indonesian Military. "His additional punishment is termination. That is a must," he said.
The victim's current condition has not been disclosed.
