Antara, Jakarta – The number of cases of violence against women and children in Jakarta has been on the rise every year since 2023. The Jakarta Provincial Government recorded that more than 1,500 women and children have become victims of violence from January to mid-September 2025.
"Data from the DPPAPP until September 12, 2025 recorded that we have handled more than 1,500 victims of violence," said Head of the Child Empowerment and Population Control Agency (DPPAPP) of Jakarta, Iin Mutmainah, during the Talk of the City Series #18 event in Jakarta on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
According to Iin, the victims have been handled by the Central Technical Implementation Unit for the Protection of Women and Children (UPT PPPA).
The Jakarta Provincial Government noted that in 2024 there were 2,041 cases of violence against women and children. This number increased from 1,682 cases in 2023.
This increasing trend also indicates that the public is now educated and willing to report if they become victims of violence. "Residents are now brave enough to speak up," she said.
On the other hand, the Jakarta Provincial Government provides channels for complaints, including through the JAKI application, Siaga 112, and violence complaint posts for children and women. Especially for the complaint posts, Iin stated that the current number has reached 44 posts and are distributed in each district throughout Jakarta.
She added that the Jakarta Provincial Government is also working with all pentahelix components to continuously improve the concept of public services that are closer, faster, transparent, accountable, and integrated.
"We are conducting socialization, communicating with various NGOs and legal aid institutions, every observer of women and children, including transportation managers to provide socialization to passengers, and also with public spaces, in which we hope these spaces will be safe and comfortable for women," she said.
