Aliyyu Medyati (Intern), Jakarta – A woman has fallen victim to sexual harassment in a commuter line or KRL at Depok Baru Station, Depok City. The perpetrator identified as D (39) reportedly rubbed his genitals to the victim while standing close by the victim on Thursday, September 22, 2022.

The Indonesian Commuter Train (KCI) Public Relations Manager Leza Arlan, explained that the incident occurred on the Bogor-Jakarta Kota Commuter Line No. 4097 connection, at around 06:45 hours Western Indonesia Time.

Leza Arlan stated that an argument between the victim and the alleged perpetrator later occurred, which led to the victim reporting the incident to a train security guard who was on standby.

"Then the perpetrator was handed over to the security officers to be secured and followed up," Leza said in a written statement on Friday, September 23, 2022.

To prevent similar offenses from recurring, KAI Commuter had installed CCTVs to better monitor perpetrators of sexual harassment.

"The perpetrator is recorded in the database system and CCTV analytics, so the perpetrator will not be permitted to enter stations," Leza said.
