M Julnis Firmansyah, Jakarta – The Communication and Informatics Minister Johnny Gerard Plate on Monday urged the public not to worry about the data breaches claimed to be committed by a hacker known as Bjorka as he believes the data is classified as public information.

"There are data that have circulated, some were leaked by Bjorka. But after it was studied, these data, for the time being, are general data and not updated and specific ones," said Johnny at the State Palace in Central Jakarta on September 12.

However, Johnny assured the general public that the claimed data breaches are being investigated by the national police, State Intelligence Agency (BIN), Kominfo, and the National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN).

He also said the government is in the process of passing the Personal Data Protection Bill to prevent recurrences and believes that once passed, will provide better protection for the general public.

As previously reported, a hacker under the pseudonym Bjorka claimed on Twitter that he had possessed state documents owned by President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and in relation to the National Intelligence Agency.

The hacker did not stop with the President but also claims to have spread the personal data of public officials such as SOEs Minister Erick Thohir and House Speaker Puan Maharani.
