Lani Diana Wijaya, Jakarta – The Jakarta Government on Monday said the bed occupancy rates of COVID-19 isolation and ICU facilities at hospitals in Jakarta had shown signs of reduction as of July 25.

The Jakarta administration's data showed 8,632 isolation facilities or 73 percent of the total 11,761 were currently in use, while 1,454 ICU facilities or 89 percent of the total 1,626 units were occupied.

"Alhamdulillah, [the occupancy rates of] isolation wards and ICU facilities for the past couple of days had a tendency to drop," said Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria to Tempo on July 26.

Prior to this, the bed occupancy rate across healthcare facilities in the capital city had reached over 90 percent from June to July. This corroborated the surge of COVID-19 cases during this period.

However, the Deputy Governor reminded the public not to let down their guard down and continue practicing proper health protocols in public spaces until hospitals in the city no longer havd to COVID-19 patients.

"Until isolation rooms and ICU beds are reduced, or even until we see the facilities empty," he said.

There are currently 140 hospitals in Jakarta that treat COVID-19 cases and the government is constantly opening more facilities to spread the load.
