M Yusuf Manurung, Jakarta – Jakarta Administration recorded that the number of funerals with Covid-19 protocols in the city increased in June 2021.
"The number of daily burial [with covid] protocol as per June 17, increased twofold compared to April and May," said Jakarta head of data and information office of city landscaping and forest department, Ivan Nurcahyo, when confirmed on Saturday, June 19.
The deceased Covid-19 patients were buried in piles or overlapping in all public cemeteries (TPU) owned by Jakarta City administration.
The capital city has 82 public cemeteries. The city administration has decided that Covid patients are allowed to be buried in any Jakarta TPU under strict protocols.
The number of daily burial in the past week reached more than 100, which also happened on June 17. "On that day, there were 119 funerals" he said.
In total, Jakarta logged 458 funerals with Covid-19 protocols in six days from June 12 to 17.
