M Julnis Firmansyah, Jakarta – Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan appealed to people who tested positive for Covid-19 to carry out self-isolation in government facilities, such as Wisma Atlet or the athlete's dorm and hotels.

Anies revealed that the highest virus transmission rate was recorded in the family cluster, reaching 41 percent. This was caused by ineffective self-isolation, he added, that must be replaced with controlled isolation under the strict supervision of medical personnel.

"The task force will encourage them to go on controlled isolation. The capacity in Wisma Atlet is sufficient, 58 percent. Hotels' capacity is also enough," said Anies after the meeting of the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) at Jakarta Metro Police HQ on Wednesday, February 10.

Anies announced the policy change in line with the extended Large-Scale Social Restriction or PSBB following the Enforcement of the government's micro-scale Community Activity Restrictions (Micro PPKM) from February 9 to 21, 2021.

"We hope that the number of hospitals beds in areas with high active cases are increased," he added

The Jakarta administration would also hire more medical workers and improve the management of Covid-19 referral hospitals. Anies Baswedan hoped the isolation policy could curb the number of Covid-19 transmission in the capital city.
