Imam Hamdi, Jakarta – The Head of the Jakarta Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), Arifin, on Friday requested the Islam Defenders Front (FPI) to take down public billboards showcasing images of Rizieq Shihab. The agency said the billboards' installation had violated the city's public order.
"We hope each and every one of the billboard they put up will eventually be taken down," said Arifin at the Jakarta City Hall on Friday, November 20.
He assured the Satpol PP would take down billboards that were erected by FPI or any other organizations that violated city regulations. Arifin said the crackdown on "wild billboards" would be done under the auspices of the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) and the National Police (Polri).
"Let us all take better care of our city together," he said.
Arifin made the statement after Jakarta Military Commander (Pangdam Jaya) Dudung Abdurrahman announced a firm warning for those who constantly put up provocative billboards for the sake of a mass-organization.
"Don't even try to disturb the unity [of our country] by claiming to represent the Muslim population," said the military commander.
