Alif Ilham Fajriadi, Jakarta – Former leader of the Islamic Defenders Front or FPI, Rizieq Shihab, has voiced support for a proposal to send Indonesian youth to Palestine to participate in jihad or fight against Israeli forces. According to him, the government should open registration for volunteers.
"Open registration, train them, arm them, and send them to Gaza to liberate Al-Aqsa," Rizieq declared at the 212 Reunion at Monas Square, Central Jakarta, on Monday, December 2, 2024.
Rizieq mentioned that the proposal was suggested by the leader of the Indonesian Ulema Council or MUI, K.H. Muhyidin Junaidi, claiming that the proposal had been presented to President Prabowo Subianto.
"I agree with K.H. Muhyidin. It's extraordinary that he proposed to Bapak President Prabowo to open registration for Indonesian youth to jihad to Palestine," said Rizieq, cheered by his supporters shouting takbir.
Rizieq hopes that Prabowo will approve the proposal, as he believes his followers are ready to participate in jihad.
Aside from the Palestine issue, Rizieq also addressed the new government. He issued a stern warning to Prabowo's Merah Putih Cabinet to avoid being influenced by problematic individuals.
"Pak Prabowo's government must be purged of wrongdoers, corrupt individuals, and those who have harmed the people. We pray that they may be eliminated and destroyed by Allah (God)," Rizieq stated.
Rizieq criticized the state of law enforcement over the past decade, accusing it of corruption and undermining democracy. "I hope the government does not let those who have been damaging this country for the past 10 years. They must be held accountable," he stressed.
He also urged President Prabowo Subianto to distance himself from such problematic individuals to ensure the government's effectiveness in leading Indonesia.
