Dewi Nurita, Jakarta – Reports arose of President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo inviting Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) politician and 1998 activist Adian Napitupulu to the State Palace on Tuesday, August 13.

"That is true, Adian was summoned by the president to the State Palace at 10:00 in the morning," said Adian's staff in the House of Representatives (DPR) Musyafaur Rahman to Tempo on Tuesday night.

However, what was discussed in the meeting between Adian and the president remains unknown. The PDIP politician – rumored to have immediate access to the president – was also unable to be contacted for confirmation.

This marks the second meeting between the two as both men met in the past during a casual meeting with former activists on June 16, 2019.

In June's event, the President hinted on possibly appointing people from the activist groups to become State Ministers or members of the parliament.

"I have heard of 98 activists becoming DPR members or regional heads, but have not seen one become a State Minister. That can happen, why not," said President Jokowi at the time.
