Friski Riana, Jakarta – President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo conveyed several instructions to the National Police during his speech in the Police 73rd anniversary ceremony at Monas, Wednesday, July 10. One of the orders is in light of human resources development.
"Keep improving the quality of police human resources in order to face increasingly complex challenges," he underlined.
The President also demanded the police implement proactive and preventive strategies with humane approaches and actions. The police also urged to develop modern, easy, quick public services and professionalism and transparency in law enforcement, as well as provide justice to the community.
"And last, strengthen the coordination with Indonesian Military (TNI), ministries/institutions, regional administrations, and the public to maintain the security and social order," he added.
Those instructions, Jokowi went on, must be implemented to face future challenges that might become harder and complex considering terrorism and radicalism remained as a serious threat to the country's security.
Additionally, the rapid development of information and technology contribute to greater and diverse potential crimes in the cyber realm. Besides, the spread of hoax and hate speech is a threat to the nation's harmony and unity.
"These [issues] require police's intelligence and swiftness," the President concluded.
