Mikael Niman & Nur Yasmin, Jakarta – The elite antiterrorism squad of the National Police arrested four terror suspects in Bekasi, West Java, on Monday and Tuesday.

"Regarding the information on the arrests of suspected terrorists in Bekasi, it is true that it was carried out by Detachment 88," National Police spokesman Chief Comr. Asep Adi Saputra said in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The first suspect, identified as Harin, alias Abu Zahra, was arrested at 9 p.m. on Monday in Jalan Lampirin Raya in Jatibening Baru. This was followed by the arrests at 2 p.m. on Tuesday of Ahmad Adhi Sudiro, Ikhsan and Khairul Amin, alias Amin, at a rented house in the same area.

A resident named Bondan said most of the suspects have lived in the area for years.

"They are residents here, the three people who were arrested. They live in one rented house," he said on Tuesday.

The four suspects were allegedly involved in helping to conceal the location of two other terror suspects, Wahyudin Sarwani and Tengku Rendi Risuda Santun. Members of the group allegedly also received military training at Mount Salak in Aceh.

Asep said police are still in the process of uncovering the suspected terror network.

Police have seized a scooter, three cellphones and an identity card belonging to Ahmad Adhi Sudiro during the arrests.

They are also conducting a thorough search of the house, while the suspects are being questioned.
