Francisca Christy Rosana, Jakarta – Musician turned political activist Ahmad Dhani will still be considered as a member of the Prabowo Subianto – Sandiaga Uno campaign team (BPN) despite his recent imprisonment for a hate-speech crime.
He has started to serve his 1,6 years prison sentence in the East Jakarta's Class I Cipinang Detention Center as of Tuesday, Jan. 29. Dhani's 'hate-speech' Tweet was initially reported by Jack Lapian.
"We see him as a political prisoner. Dhani will continue his role in the BPN," said the Prabowo-Sandiaga Uno campaign team spokesman Miftah N. Sabri at the Cipinang Detention today, Jan. 30.
Ahmad Dhani is appointed the role of BPN's national campaign spokesman, which is a role shared with Neno Warisman, Rhoma Irama, and Fuad Bawazier. Another notable figure filling the position was hoax-suspect Ratna Sarumpaet who was fired by the team back in October 2018.
Miftah asserted that the case incriminating Ahmad Dhani is different to the Ratna's and assured that the fate of the musician in the BPN will not end up like Ratna Sarumpaet.
