Sultan Abdurrahman, Jakarta – Students from Trisakti University called for President Prabowo Subianto to dismiss Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni over his failure to address the raging forest fires across Indonesia.
The demand was made during a protest on Jl. Medan Merdeka Selatan, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, October 29, 2026. President of Trisakti Student Council, Dhenni Ribowo, said one of the ministries with negative performances is the Ministry of Forestry.
"We ask for the minister and deputy minister to be removed," Dhenni said at the protest site.
Many corporations were still committing violations that lead to forest fires, he said, which cannot be separated from the Ministry of Forestry's failure to perform its duties.
During the Trisakti student protest, the Special Staff of the Deputy Minister of State Secretary, Binbin Firman Tresnadi, came to meet protesters on behalf of the government. Binbin spoke with student representatives for about 30 minutes.
Binbin then promised to convey the students' demands for the removal of the minister and deputy minister of forestry.
The Trisakti students brought three main demands referred to as "Tritura" (Three Demands of the People) during the protest. These demands are restoring the economy, ecology, education, political health; removing the incompetence and dual positions of public officials; and upholding civil supremacy.
In addition, the Trisakti students also demanded more concrete government policies in addressing national issues, including by declaring the forest fires a national disaster.
