Sultan Abdurrahman, Jakarta – Head of the Government Communication Bureau, Muhammad Qodari, has characterized President Prabowo Subianto as the leader of a second wave of national reform. According to Qodari, Prabowo is the leader capable of realizing the goals of the reform movement.

Qodari shared these views in response to the various demands voiced during student demonstrations across the country this week. "Pak Prabowo is the leader of the second wave of reform because of what he is overhauling regarding the economic structure of Indonesia," he stated in a written release on Sunday, June 14, 2026.

He argued that Prabowo is working to change an economic framework that has historically served only the interests of the elite. "The system that allowed certain elites to siphon off state funds. Prabowo is correcting that," Qodari said.

Furthermore, he claimed that the policies pursued by the current administration demonstrate a newfound boldness to tackle issues once considered untouchable, most notably, law enforcement within the oil trade.

Qodari pointed to the case of oil tycoon Mohammad Riza Chalid, who for years seemed beyond the reach of the legal process. "We all know that Riza Chalid was considered untouchable for so long. But under Prabowo, he has been named a suspect, and his son is being pursued abroad. His son is currently undergoing legal proceedings," he noted.

In addition, Qodari highlighted the government's efforts through the Forest Area Regulation Task Force (PKH), which has reportedly cracked down on millions of hectares of illegal oil palm plantations. "Who else has reformed the management of our oil palm industry besides Prabowo? It never happened before," Qodari remarked.

He also asserted that Prabowo remains at the forefront of efforts to uplift Indonesian society and create a more equitable economic balance.

These statements follow a series of regional student demonstrations held under the banner "Menuju Indonesia Bangkrut" (Towards Indonesia's Bankruptcy) and "Reform Volume II."

The student protesters criticized President Prabowo's flagship programs, which they argue squander the state budget, specifically the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program and the Red and White Village Cooperative.
