Hendrik Yaputra, Jakarta – The joint strikes on Iran by Israel and the United States are unjustifiable under international law, said the chair of Foreign Affairs and International Agreements of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Central Executive Board, Luluk Nur Hamidah.
She expressed her condemnation against the military operation that killed Tehran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. "It is unacceptable under humanity principles and could create a dangerous precedent for global stability," she said in an official statement on Monday, March 2, 2026.
According to her, attacking sovereign leaders could propel the world towards a military-forward international system, rather than being governed by the law. This, she said, poses the risk of condemning other countries to a similar fate to Iran.
"When the killing of a state leader is legitimized, there is no longer any security guarantee for any nation," she said, stressing that the impunity for various humanitarian violations – particularly in Israel's genocidal war against Palestine – could lead to the escalation of violence.
She expressed her concerns that conflicts arising from violence will continue to widen. "When double standards are maintained, aggression will recur. When justice is not consistently upheld, conflicts will further expand," she said.
According to her, humanity should not be sidelined by geopolitical interests and military dominance. Humanity, Luluk added, must not be sacrificed for global power agendas.
"The world needs universal justice, not laws that punch down," she said.
She also called on the United Nations and the international community to conduct an independent and transparent investigation into this attack. She also requested the UN impose vigorous sanctions for any violations of international law without double standards, including against Israel and the US.
The UN was also urged to de-escalate conflicts and open diplomatic channels to protect civilians from the broadening conflict across the region.
Israel launched a joint unprovoked attack with the US on Iran on Saturday morning, February 28, 2026. The attack resulted in the death of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
