M. Raihan Muzzaki, Jakarta – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is currently looking into the alleged gratification involving Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar. According to KPK Chair Setyo Budianto, the minister was facilitated with a private jet by Hanura Party boss Oesman Sapta Odang.

Setyo said the investigation aims to confirm any corrupt practices in the situation. "We cannot immediately discern that it's unlawful, but we will process this. Whether or not it will be followed up, we'll first make it open source," said Setyo Budiyanto in Jakarta, on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

Nasaruddin Umar earlier responded to the viral allegations of private jet gratification that dragged his name. According to him, he was merely attending a familial invitation for an Islamic school inauguration.

"But the plane that arrived was [a private jet]. Was I not supposed to come?" Nasaruddin said when approached at the Istiqlal Mosque, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday evening.

When asked about the possibility of this being categorized as graft, he replied briefly, "I don't know, it's up to them."

He emphasized that the individuals who invited him had no official ties with the ministry. "Where is the gratification? They have no official connection with [Religious Affairs Ministry]," he said.

According to him, the invitation came from family connection. "His wife is family. It's the family that invited me to inaugurate their Islamic boarding school. So, was I not supposed to come?" he said.

He also mentioned the origin of his kinship in Takalar, South Sulawesi. "He is from Takalar. My uncle is also there, in Takalar. So, it's family."

Prior to this, Nasaruddin Umar attended the inauguration of the Balai Sarkiah Building in Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi, on Sunday, February 15, 2026. The Balai Sarkiah Building is a religious and educational facility established by the OSO Foundation (Oesman Sapta Odang). The inauguration was attended by OSO and family, Takalar Regent Mohammad Firdaus Daeng Manye, as well as the Regional Leadership Communication Forum of South Sulawesi. Around 200 religious figures and local residents who had been anticipating the inauguration of the building were also present.

The identity of the private jet was revealed through social media, showing the arrival of Minister Nasaruddin Umar along with his entourage. With registration number PK-RSS, the private jet is known to belong to Natural Synergy Corporation, according to Transportation Ministry data.

Natural Synergy Corporation is an entity based in British Virgin Islands, a British overseas territory known as a tax haven.
