Iil Askar Mondza, Jakarta – Heavy rain has once again fallen in Pidie Jaya Regency, Aceh, on Wednesday, December 24, 2025. As a result, several villages are once again inundated by water from the Meureudu River. In some locations, the river has flooded the villages.
"Satnyoe di pante beureune ka payah jak bak jalan rel mandum (Just now at Pante Beureune, we have to walk on the railroad tracks)," said Budi, a resident of Pidie Jaya, in a brief message to Tempo on Wednesday afternoon, December 24, 2025.
Budi mentioned that on Tuesday night, December 23, 2025, the Pidie Jaya area also experienced rain. However, the condition of the river water was still relatively normal, although the residents remained cautious.
However, this afternoon, the rainfall that started on Wednesday morning increased, prompting residents in several villages to evacuate. Residents of villages such as Beurawang, Geunteung, and Meunasah Lhok began to leave to find safer places.
Monitoring by Tempo at Keude Meureude Bridge showed that the river water began to rise around 3:20 PM. Several residents crowded the bridge to observe the condition of the river water.
Tempo passed through Beurawang Village, Meureudu District, at around 2:00 PM. Although the road was still muddy, it was still passable as there were hardly any visible water puddles.
However, as of 5:30 PM, when this news was written, the village was flooded once again by swift currents.
