Eka Yudha Saputra, Jakarta – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto departed for the province of Aceh on Sunday morning, December 7, 2025 to observe the handling of floods that have struck several regions. This marks Prabowo's second visit to a disaster area. Previously, Prabowo visited Tapanuli Tengah on December 1, 2025.

Prabowo took off from the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta at around 07:55 AM Western Indonesia Time, heading to the Sultan Iskandar Muda International Airport in Kabupaten Aceh Besar. The President was accompanied by State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Government Communication Bureau Chief Angga Raka Prabowo.

According to the Presidential Secretariat, the Head of State is scheduled to observe the points that have suffered significant damage and impact due to the floods in Aceh. Prabowo's visit is intended to ensure the acceleration of emergency handling and recovery in the affected areas.

President Prabowo will also monitor the distribution of aid, the process of evacuating residents, and the opening of access roads. The government emphasizes that flood management in Aceh is a national priority and all resources are being deployed to expedite the recovery of the affected communities.

Previously, on Friday, December 5, 2025, the Head of State stated that the floods in several regions were a shared suffering and challenge experienced together as one nation. Prabowo claimed that despite being hit by disasters, Indonesia continues to demonstrate resilience as a great and strong nation, able to endure and rise.

"We prove that the people see the government's quick response, the government's efforts to address the problem. We have now proven that the people see a disaster in part of our country. But the state's tools immediately arrived," said Prabowo.

On Saturday night, Prabowo also held a limited meeting to discuss the handling of the Sumatra floods with several ministers of the Red and White Cabinet at his residence in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java.

The weekend meeting was held to ensure the acceleration of disaster management in several regions in Sumatra. State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, who attended the meeting, confirmed that Prabowo wanted to receive the latest and detailed reports from relevant authorities regarding the field situation, especially in the areas that are still isolated in Aceh Province, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

"The President wants to get reports from all authorities regarding the updates on the emergency response to the disaster that has struck our brothers and sisters in Aceh Province, North Sumatra Province, and West Sumatra Province," said Prasetyo in his official statement on Saturday, December 6, 2025.

During the meeting, Prabowo directly instructed all authorities to prioritize the restoration of land access routes and expedite the supply of logistics, especially fuel, which had been disrupted due to the collapse of several road sections and main bridges.

"The President immediately gave instructions to accelerate the areas that are still isolated, and also to expedite the distribution of fuel because several routes were cut off, thus disrupting the distribution," said Prasetyo.
