Hendrik Yaputra, Jakarta – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto met with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at Kirribilli House in Sydney on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. This meeting was one of the agenda items during President Prabowo's state visit to Australia.
According to the President's Secretariat, PM Albanese welcomed Prabowo directly at Kirribilli House. Prabowo signed the state guest book as a form of diplomatic respect. After the welcoming procession, the two leaders walked together towards the sitting room for a one-on-one meeting. The meeting took place in a closed format.
According to the President's Secretariat, the meeting aimed to strengthen cooperation in various fields, particularly in economic and developmental sectors, inter-societal relations, defense and security, and maritime issues.
In addition to strengthening the foundation of their seven-decade-long partnership, the two leaders addressed the stability of the Indo-Pacific region and the enhancement of strategic industrial capacity at the bilateral level.
As is known, the partnership between Indonesia and Australia, previously categorized as a Comprehensive Partnership under the Joint Declaration on Comprehensive Partnership on April 5, 2005, has been elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP). This occurred during the Australian Prime Minister's visit to Indonesia on August 31, 2018.
Prabowo departed for Sydney, Australia, on Tuesday afternoon, November 11, 2025. He arrived in Australia on Monday night. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that the one-day state visit will include several important agenda items.
"During the one-day visit, the President is scheduled to have a one-on-one meeting with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, attend state ceremonies led by Governor-General of Australia Sam Mostyn," said Teddy in his written statement on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
The Head of State will attend several other meetings as well. These meetings will focus on cooperation in trade, investment, education, and industrial partnerships.
In this bilateral visit, the President is accompanied by Foreign Minister Sugiono and Teddy Indra Wijaya. Before departing, Prabowo first led a closed-door limited cabinet meeting at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
The limited meeting was attended by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Deputy Speaker of the People's Representative Council Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Head of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency Muhammad Yusuf Ateh, Head of the Financial Transaction Reports Analysis Center Ivan Yustiavandana, and Teddy Indra Wijaya.
