Hendrik Yaputra, Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto said the Indonesian government has demonstrated its ability to deliver on its promises during his first year in office, although he did not specify which promises had been fulfilled.
Speaking before graduates of the University of Kebangsaan Republik Indonesia (UKRI) at the Trans Convention Center in Bandung on Saturday, October 18, 2025, Prabowo expressed confidence in facing the public as his administration marks one year in power.
"On Monday, October 20, 2025, I will have been leading for one year. I can confidently say that I dare to face the Indonesian people because we have proven to the nation and the world that we can deliver on our promises," Prabowo said, as broadcast on UKRI TV's YouTube channel.
During his address, the President reflected on the nature of leadership, categorizing people into three types: leaders, followers, and those who lack a sense of purpose. "There are times when a person must lead, and times when a leader must also be a loyal follower," he said.
Prabowo warned against becoming the third type, those without direction, saying such individuals "must be avoided because they do not understand their role."
The former defense minister shared his perspective on the qualities of effective leadership, emphasizing integrity and sound judgment.
"The key is simple. Use common sense, act with careful consideration, make decisions based on truth, and uphold good character," he said. "An honest, non-corrupt personality is the foundation of success."
President Prabowo attended the UKRI open senate session, which also marked the inauguration of new students and the graduation of undergraduates.
He arrived at around 10:50 AM wearing a dark gray suit and black peci, accompanied by Deputy Speaker of the House Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, who also serves as UKRI's Rector, Head of the Government Communication Agency Angga Raka Prabowo, Foreign Minister Sugiono, and Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian.
