Antara, Jakarta – The Jakarta Environmental Agency sprayed 4,000 liters of water mist in several strategic locations to help reduce air pollution. The effort is part of the pre-events leading up to the Jakarta Eco Future Fest (JEFF) 2025.
Head of the Jakarta Environmental Agency, Asep Kuswanto, said the spraying took place in areas with high activity such as Dukuh Atas, TB Simatupang, Fatmawati, the HI Roundabout, MH Thamrin, and Lapangan Banteng.
"Air pollution is one of Jakarta's biggest challenges. Through this water mist activation, we are working to lower pollutant concentrations while reminding residents about the importance of maintaining air quality," he said, as quoted by Antara on Friday.
The initiative is believed to help reduce pollutant particles, especially PM2.5, while also creating healthier public spaces.
In addition to spraying, the agency deployed mobile videotrons broadcasting educational messages on air pollution control. Through these efforts, the public is encouraged to take simple steps such as conducting regular vehicle emission tests and switching to public transportation.
"Community, business, and grassroots participation are vital to achieve a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable Jakarta," Asep added.
JEFF 2025 will be held on September 25-26 at Cibis Park, South Jakarta. The festival will showcase green innovations, recycled products, and sustainable business initiatives.
Over two days, visitors can join creative talks such as "Clean Out Your Closet", explore art installations like the Garden of Waste, and participate in the Trash to Treasure program that allows people to exchange waste for eco-friendly products.
The festival also features an eco market, a VR environmental experience, community performances, a treasure hunt, and live music.
"JEFF 2025 is a space for learning, inspiration, and celebration of a more sustainable, eco-friendly lifestyle," said Asep.
For several years, the Jakarta Provincial Government has intensified road watering on main roads and expanded the use of water mist generators to reduce high levels of air pollution. This collaboration with Jakarta's Fire and Rescue Agency (Gulkarmat) aims to improve Jakarta's skies, making them clearer and bluer.
