Jakarta Metro Police form special team to search for three missing protesters

Vedro Imanuel Girsang, Jakarta – Three individuals are still reported missing following the massive protest in Jakarta at the end of last August. Their whereabouts remain unknown after participating in several protest points.

Director of General Crime Detective of Jakarta Metro Police, Commissioner Wira Satya Triputra, stated that the police have been monitoring the alleged disappearance of protesters. 'We have received this information from social media,' said Wira during a press conference on Monday night, September 15, 2025.

Wira revealed that the police are committed to directly search for the missing demonstrators. 'We have formed a joint team for the search,' said Wira in front of the journalists.

According to Wira, the team will need time to conduct the search. Wira hopes that in the near future, the police will be able to determine the whereabouts of the three missing demonstrators.

In addition to forming a joint team, Jakarta Metro Police has also opened a Missing Persons report center. 'If anyone knows, perhaps recognizing or has met these individuals, please inform us,' said Wira.

The center is located at the Satya Haprabu Hall, Directorate of General Crime Detective (Ditreskrimum) of Jakarta Metro Police. Reports can be made by visiting the center or contacting the complaint service number at 0812-8559-9191, which operates 24 hours a day.

Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri, urged the public to assist in the search for the missing persons. 'We seek the support of the entire community to provide information regarding the missing individuals,' said Asep.

The Commission for the Disappeared and Victims of Violence (KontraS) notes that three individuals are still unaccounted for. 'Three individuals have not been found to this day,' said KontraS Coordinator, Dimas Bagus Arya, during a press conference on Friday, September 12, 2025.

The three individuals still missing are Bima Permana Putra, missing since August 31, 2025, last reported to be around Golodok, West Jakarta. Then, Muhammad Farhan Hamid and Reno Syaputradewo, who have also been missing since August 31, 2025. Both were last known to be in the Kwitang area, Central Jakarta.

Currently, KontraS has closed the report center. However, they remain committed to continuing efforts in the search for the missing victims. 'We will continue advocacy efforts to search for the missing persons,' said Dimas.
