Muhammad Iqbal, Tangerang – Several locations in Tangerang and South Tangerang, which is just outside Jakarta, were inundated by flooding due to downpours on Tuesday evening, May 13, affecting a number of road sections.
The flood points include Jl. Raden Fatah, Tangerang City, which is the main connecting route between the city and South Tangerang. Some residents mentioned this location as a new flood point.
"I'm also surprised because the rain was brief, but it's flooding this much," said Yangga, one of the residents whose travel was hampered by the flood due to inaccessible roads.
Several flood points are also found on Jl. Hasyim Ashari, one of which is near the Ciledug Indah connecting bridge. Still in Tangerang City, floods also hit the area of Jl. Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa in Pinang District.
The area has been known to frequently experience flooding, and on Tuesday evening, the flood completely cut off road access.
The water height reached an adult's waist, not only on the road sections but also in the surrounding residential areas.
"It's a regular thing here. Even a little rain will definitely cause flooding, let alone heavy rain like this," said Rafael, a local resident.
According to him, the flood became severe after the construction of a toll road access. He mentioned that the water overflowed back to the residential areas.
He hoped for a government solution to the flooding in his side of town.
Meanwhile, in South Tangerang City, flooding was visible in Graha Raya, Bintaro, slowing down traffic in the area.
Weather forecast this morning by the national weather agency BMKG previously expected a rainy Tuesday in Tangerang, Tangerang City, and South Tangerang.
