Riri Rahayu, Jakarta – Head of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) Authority, or OIKN, Basuki Hadimuljono said around 500 OIKN staff have moved to the new capital since March 1 this year. He said more civil servant candidates (CPNS) will follow suit in June 2025.
"There are 582 more candidates who will live here (IKN)," Basuki said in a virtual press conference on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.
Basuki affirmed that OIKN staff are prepared to move to the new capital, despite uncertainties with transferring government employees to IKN.
Previously, Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (Menpan-RB) Rini Widyantini said there was no directive from President Prabowo Subianto to bring government employees to IKN. Her ministry also plans to re-screen the staff who will be transferred.
Meanwhile, the transfer of OIKN employees to East Kalimantan was carried out earlier as the IKN phase II construction was commenced. Along with the physical development project, the OIKN is also preparing to form an IKN Special Regional Government.
The second phase of IKN development is designed for 2025-2029, with a government-allotted budget of Rp48.8 trillion. As for this year, the OIKN received an initial budget of Rp5.3 trillion and an additional budget approval of Rp8.1 trillion. The additional budget will be used to complete the construction of the legislative and judiciary buildings, aligning with Prabowo's goal of making IKN a political capital by 2028.
