Hendrik Yaputra, Jakarta – President Prabowo inaugurates the elected leaders and supervisory council of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for the 2024-2029 period today, Monday, December 16, at the Presidential Palace.

The five inaugurated KPK leaders are KPK Chair Setyo Budiyanto (KPK Chair) and four deputy chairs: Fitroh Rohcahyanto, Ibnu Basuki Widodo, Johanis Tanak, and Agus Joko Pramono. Meanwhile, the five KPK Supervisory Council members are Gusrizal (Chair), Benny Jozua Mamoto, Chisca Mirawati, Wisnu Baroto, and Sumpeno.

President Prabowo Subianto appeared to lead the inauguration ceremony. Subsequently, the five KPK leaders and five KPK Supervisory Board members underwent oath-taking before the head of state.

"I swear not to accept corruption either directly or indirectly," said Setyo.

Afterward, KPK Chair and member Setyo Budiyanto and KPK Supervisory Council Chair and member Gusrizal signed their appointments.

On Thursday, November 21, the Plenary Session of Commission III of the House of Representatives determined the five leaders and supervisory council members of KPK after holding a fit and proper test.

Responding to these results, the Indonesia Memanggil (IM57+) Institute called out the parliament, claiming House was not committed to restoring the dignity of KPK by eliminating the candidacy of civil society representatives of KPK leaders. The five newly appointed KPK leaders all have law enforcement and auditor backgrounds.

"There is no commitment from the House of Representatives to restore the dignity of KPK," said IM57+ Institute Chair Lakso Anindito in a written statement on Thursday.

According to Lakso, the selection of the five leaders of the anti-corruption agency shows its lack of a strong commitment to promoting KPK reform, which should be a key factor in eradicating corruption.
