Savero Aristia Wienanto, Jakarta – The United States (US) Ambassador to Indonesia, Kamala Shirin Lakhdhir, responded positively to the celebration of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and the United States. She made the statement while attending the peak event of the celebration held yesterday by the United States Embassy to Indonesia at SCBD Park Lot 8.
"For 75 years, Indonesia and America have been advancing each other, the increasingly close relationship can be seen from the crowded booths and visitors," said Lakhdhir while giving a speech, Saturday, December 14, 2024.
Lakhdhir also highlighted information about education and job opportunities in the US. At the event, the US Embassy featured American companies present in Indonesia.
She admitted that she was happy if organizations, students, and professionals increased cooperation between America and Indonesia. She hopes that this cooperation can encourage the prosperity of the people of both countries.
"You are the people here. You are the ones who will represent the next 75 years," she said.
To reporters, Lakhdhir said that she hopes for the youth of Indonesia and the US. Because, he said, the future of diplomatic relations between the two countries is in the hands of the younger generation.
Furthermore, Lakhdhir also hopes that US companies in Indonesia can have a positive impact on the economy and employment for the Indonesian people.
"My hope is that Indonesia and the US can continue to work together in the field of development and human resource development," he said.
The United States Embassy in Indonesia held a celebration of 75 years of US-Indonesia bilateral relations entitled "Celebration of 75 Years: USA in Jkt". Based on Tempo's monitoring, the opening of the event was enlivened by the music group Maliq & D'Essentials.
The peak event of the US-Indonesia diplomatic relations commemoration also presented an exhibition of US Embassy programs and US products. The United States Ambassador to Indonesia Kamala Shirin Lakhdhir also attended the celebration.
The 75th anniversary of Indonesia-US diplomatic relations in 2024 was also marked by a bilateral meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and President Joseph Biden in Washington, D.C., on November 12.
