Antara, Jakarta – Indonesian Minister of Transmigration Muhammad Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara said President Prabowo Subianto has instructed the ministry to run a transmigration program to Eastern Indonesia, especially Papua. The program is intended to realize welfare equality across Indonesian regions, he said.

"To ensure that Papua truly becomes an integral part of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia in terms of its welfare, national unity, and in a broader context," said Iftitah during the handover ceremony at the Ministry of Villages, Underdeveloped Regions Development, and Transmigration in South Jakarta on Monday, October 21, 2024.

Based on President Prabowo's instruction, the minister said the Ministry of Transmigration strives to induce pride in the transmigration communities, starting from within the ministry. "The Ministry of Transmigration, as a facilitator of these nation's patriots, must first build pride within its institution," said Iftitah.

The Ministry of Transmigration is a new ministerial nomenclature under the Prabowo-led government. The Ministry of Transmigration was separated from the Ministry of Villages, Underdeveloped Regions Development, and Transmigration. The ministry is divided into two: the Ministry of Transmigration and the Ministry of Villages and Underdeveloped Regions Development.

President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated Iftitah as a minister along with 47 members of the Red and White Cabinet on Monday. Meanwhile, Yandri Susanto assumes the position of Minister of Villages and Underdeveloped Regions Development.

Iftitah is a member of the Democratic Party and a retired military officer. In carrying out his duty, Iftitah will be assisted by Deputy Minister Viva Yoga Mauladi, a National Mandate Party politician.

As a new institution, Iftitah acknowledges that the Ministry of Transmigration will face many challenges ahead. Therefore, he emphasizes the importance of inter-ministerial synergy and collaboration within Prabowo's Red and White Cabinet.
