Apriadi Gunawan, Medan – The Banda Aceh Police are investigating a grenade explosion in front of the house of Aceh gubernatorial candidate Bustami Hamzah in Syiah Kuala district, Banda Aceh city.
The city police's criminal investigation department head, Comr. Fadillah Aditya Pratama, said investigators had gathered evidence from the crime scene, including CCTV footage.
He said the explosion in front of Bustami's house was likely from a grenade thrown by suspects riding a motorcycle.
"There were two suspects riding a motorcycle [at the time and location of the incident]. Our team is currently analyzing the kind of grenade that was thrown in front of the Aceh gubernatorial candidate Bustami," Fadillah said on Tuesday.
There were no casualties from the Monday incident, Fadillah said. However, the explosion damaged part of the house.
He said the police would continue investigating the incident to uncover the motives behind it and apprehend the suspects.
