Agnes Valentina Christa, Jakarta – The future national capital, Nusantara, in East Kalimantan will soon be open to both local and foreign tourists, Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno announced on Wednesday.

The ministry is developing local attractions, including seaside tourism villages Nipah-Nipah and Mentawir.

Both Nipah-Nipah and Mentawir villages, located in North Penajam Paser Regency, boast incredible tourist attractions due to their unique location between the coast and a lush tropical forest.

Tourists will also be able to visit nearby Bukit Bangkirai, a protected forest area in Kutai Kartanegara Regency, which offers stunning natural scenery and a refreshing environment for outdoor activities.

"The tourism project is in its final stage," Sandiaga said during an event in Cisarua, East Jakarta.

According to government data, the regency surrounding Nusantara has at least 12 tourism villages being developed by the central and provincial governments.
