Roy Adriansyah, Jakarta – Former East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa and her running mate Emil Dardak have secured support from eight political parties for their bid in the upcoming gubernatorial election.

The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) was the latest to endorse the pair, who visited the party's headquarters in South Jakarta on Thursday.

They were welcomed by PKS Chairman Ahmad Syaikhu, Secretary-General Aboe Bakar Alhabsi, and other party leaders.

Ahmad praised Khofifah's leadership during her tenure and expressed PKS's desire for her to serve another five years.

"I have instructed all regional chapters to comply with this decision," Ahmad said.

Khofifah expressed gratitude for the PKS endorsement and said she was confident about her reelection with the majority of parties backing her.

Khofifah, a former Social Affairs Minister in President Joko Widodo's cabinet, has also received support from the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra), the Golkar Party, the Democratic Party, the National Mandate Party (PAN), the United Development Party (PPP), the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), and the United Indonesia Party (Perindo).

The remaining incumbent parties, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) and the National Awakening Party (PKB), have yet to announce their candidates for the East Java gubernatorial election.
