Ichsan Ali, Jakarta – The Attorney General's Office has launched a criminal investigation into the alleged illegal production of minted gold bars totaling 109 tons over more than a decade at state-owned gold miner Aneka Tambang (Antam).

Six former Antam general managers responsible for precious metal purification and management between 2010 and 2022 have been named as suspects.

On Thursday, prosecutors interrogated a former Antam commissioner identified by the initials RAS, who served from April 2014 to March 2019, according to AGO spokesman Harli Siregar.

The six suspects are identified by their initials TK, HN, DM, AHA, MA, and ID.

Investigators allege that the suspects conspired to illegally produce minted gold bars bearing the Antam logo for at least 12 years, resulting in a total of 109 tons of gold bars.

Prosecutors have seized 7.7 kilograms of fine gold bars from the suspects and have interrogated nearly 100 witnesses, the spokesman said.
