Antara, Jakarta – Acting Regent of Bogor Asmawa Tosepu affirmed that illegal villas in the Puncak area will be evicted following the eviction of street vendors.
"We will definitely put them in order. The Governor's orders are clear, and as the acting regent, I'll see them through," he said in Cibinong on Sunday, June 30.
Asmawa said he already had data on numerous buildings declared in violation or did not have permits. However, the Bogor Regency Government could carry out the control in stages, considering that the number is not small.
"We don't have enough personnel to finish everything straight away, but gradually," said Asmawa.
He defended that the relocation of street vendors in the Puncak Tourism Area to Gunung Mas was for their own good despite some resistance from some traders. He emphasized the move's potential to improve their economic well-being.
The Bogor Regency Government has provided various facilities for relocated traders, including tax exemption for the next six months. Additionally, the Gunung Mas Rest Area manager, PT Sayaga Wisata, has integrated access points and waived parking fees for tourists.
Asmawa identified the paid parking system, introduced upon the rest area's opening in mid-2023, as a possible factor contributing to lower visitor numbers.
