Alfitria Nefi P, Jakarta – Indonesia's Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) has decided to delay a loan from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in order to accelerate its three million homes program. "We're putting it on hold for now to reassess," said Imran, the ministry's Rural Affairs Director, during a press briefing at Wisma Mandiri on Monday, June 23.

The minister said that the decision stems from plans for a major funding injection from Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (Danantara) into the housing sector. "With significant support from Danantara and Bank Indonesia, we hope to fully fund rural housing initiatives," he said.

The ministry estimates that the program will require a total of Rp25 trillion. When asked about specific funding expectations, Imran remained tight-lipped, saying only, "It'd be ideal if it aligns with our proposal."

Earlier, PKP Minister Maruarar Sirait revealed that Danantara is processing financing for the housing sector. The Association of State-Owned Banks (Himbara) will channel these funds to support the initiative to build 3 million homes.

"Last week, Rosan [Danantara's CEO] mentioned Rp130 trillion from the People's Business Credit (KUR) for housing," Sirait told reporters at Bluebird's office in Jakarta on Tuesday, June 17.

Danantara's CEO, Rosan Roeslani, had previously confirmed the agency's investment in housing, citing its alignment with President Prabowo Subianto's priorities. The Minister of Investment and Downstreaming said that discussions with Himbara have secured banking support for the program.

Rosan emphasized that the banking sector's support comes with assurances tied to the financed homes. He expressed confidence that the initiative would comply with existing regulations.

"I'm certain this will have a positive impact on Indonesia's economy and the happiness of our people through the PKP Ministry's subsidized housing program," Rosan told Minister Sirait during a working visit in Singapore on Monday, June 16 as quoted from Sirait's official Instagram account, @maruararsirait.
