Vice president-elect Gibran to tour Indonesia, addressing national issues

Celvin Moniaga Sipahutar, Jakarta – Vice President-Elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka has announced his plans to tour Indonesia in order to address various issues across the country.

Gibran made the statement after conducting a visit to the Muara Baru low-cost rental flats in Penjaringan, North Jakarta, on Wednesday. "Not only North Jakarta but all places will be visited by us," said Gibran.

The Mayor of Solo added that the areas of focus would be regions with various issues, including poverty and infrastructure.

"We will visit all places with many problems, with high poverty rates. We will monitor, evaluate, and listen to the complaints of the residents," he said.Furthermore, he emphasized that he would visit all places with issues in the country. According to him, this is in line with the promises made during the campaign and debates.

These programs include the free lunch program for students, a three-year tax exemption for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), 10,000 medical student scholarships, the construction of 3 million homes for low-income families, and generating 5 million green jobs.

Gibran is poised to make history as Indonesia's youngest vice president, a post usually reserved for senior figures.

The eldest son of President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo will be 37 years and 19 days old by the inauguration date of October 20.

He will succeed Ma'ruf Amin, who set the record as the country's oldest vice president at 76 years old in October 2019.
