Amelia Rahima Sari, Jakarta – Maruarar Sirait, a former member of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), highlighted the relationship between President-elect Prabowo Subianto and President Joko Widodo or Jokowi.
"Pak Prabowo must absolutely be a complete President. He cannot be a party official. He must be the people's official. He cannot be anyone's puppet," Maruarar, also known as Ara, said during an iftar gathering and charity event with activists and orphans at The Acre in Menteng, Central Jakarta, on April 7.
He encouraged the volunteers to support Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka because the winning pair in the February presidential election will continue Jokowi's legacy programs.
"That is why Jokowi will be a special advisor to the president and vice president," Ara said in his official statement on Sunday, April 7.
He said that Jokowi has valuable experience as the seventh President of the Republic of Indonesia. Apart from that, the latter had also served as Mayor of Surakarta and Governor of Jakarta.
Therefore, Ara emphasized that all activists must unite to support Prabowo's government when he serves as the eighth President of the Republic of Indonesia. In this way, Prabowo's government can be united and solid.
"So we must not become parties that divide them. We must support the unity of Prabowo and Jokowi," Ara concluded.
As previously reported, Maruarar Sirait left the PDIP in January 2024 and then declared his support for Prabowo and Gibran, Jokowi's eldest son, on the ticket of the PDIP's rival Gerindra Party in the February presidential election.
