Jokowi officially taps Tonny Harjono as new air force chief of staff

Daniel A. Fajri, Jakarta – President Joko Widodo or Jokowi inaugurated Marshal Mohamad Tonny Harjono as the new Air Force Chief of Staff (KSAU) at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Friday, April 5, 2024. Tonny succeeded Marshal Fadjar Prasetyo, who will retire on April 9.

The appointment was noted in Presidential Decree (Keppres) No. 20/2024 signed on March 25, 2024. The decree also included the honorable dismissal of Marshal Fadjar Prasetyo.

During the inauguration ceremony, the President administered the oath of Tonny who pledged allegiance to the state and the laws.

"In the exercise of my duties, I will uphold office ethics, work to the best of my ability, and with a full sense of responsibility. That I will uphold the soldier's oath," said the President dictating the oath of office followed by Tonny.

The event continued with the signing of the minutes by Jokowi and Tonny. Witnesses were the Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander Agus Subiyanto and National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

The event concluded with a congratulatory message from President Jokowi, followed by the guests. After the inauguration, Tonny Harjono is now the Vice Marshal.

Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto, Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, State Secretary Minister Pratikno, Cabinet Secretary Pranomo Anung, Youth and Sports Minister Dito Ariotedjo, a member of the Presidential Advisory Council Gandi Sulistiyanto, and House Commission I Chairperson Meutya Hafid also attended the event.
