Zikrullah Shubhy, Jakarta – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) searched the residence of Hanan Supangkat, a businessman and key witness in the case involving former Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL). The search took place at Intercon housing complex in Kembangan, West Jakarta on Wednesday night.
KPK officials arrived at approximately 9:00 p.m. using four vehicles. Upon entering the two-story residence, they engaged in a brief debate with the security personnel of the house and the housing complex.
Approximately 15 minutes later, Hanan Supangkat arrived at his residence in an Innova Hybrid. Subsequently, KPK officials entered the house. Shortly after, KPK members emerged and proceeded to inspect four of Hanan Supangkat's luxury vehicles, namely a Mini Cooper, Innova Hybrid, Toyota Alpard, and BMW X7.
About 12 KPK members entered the residence carrying two suitcases.
As of now, there has been no official statement from the KPK regarding the nature or purpose of the search. The operation adds another layer to the ongoing investigation involving Hanan Supangkat and his role as a witness in the case implicating former Minister SYL.
Hanan Supangkat is the owner of Mulia Knitting Factory, a company known for its popular underwear brand Rider.
Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL), is facing allegations of extortion and accepting gratifications amounting to Rp 44.5 billion ($3.2 million). According to the indictment, the funds were allegedly utilized for personal and family expenses. Additionally, SYL is accused of appointing individuals he trusted to key positions within the Agriculture Ministry to streamline his official responsibilities.
