Yustinus Paat, Jakarta – Research and consulting firm Indikator Politik Indonesia released poll results on Friday indicating that Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto and running mate Gibran Rakabuming Raka are poised to win with 51.8 percent of the vote in the upcoming February 14 presidential election.
Indikator Politik becomes the second pollster in the past two days to predict an outright victory for Prabowo.
"However, the results remain within the margin of error of plus or minus 2.9 percentage points, suggesting that a runoff is still a possibility in the upcoming election," said Indikator Politik's lead researcher, Burhanuddin Muhtadi.
Former Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan is trailing in a distant second with 24.1 percent of the vote, followed by former Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo with 21.1 percent.
On Thursday, Political Statistics (PolStat) announced the results of its latest surveys, forecasting that Prabowo will secure victory with 52.8 percent of the vote.
Only 26.5 percent of respondents expressed support for Anies, while Ganjar's support dropped to 18.2 percent of the vote.
With undecided voters comprising only 2.5 percent of respondents less than a week into the election, PolStat anticipates that Prabowo's outright win is inevitable.
"The survey also revealed that many voters prefer to see the 2024 presidential election conclude in just one round," PolStat's research director Apna Permana said.
