Novie Fauziah, Jakarta – Indonesian celebrity and presenter, Ivan Gunawan, known as Igun, has announced his decision to leave Indonesia after being reprimanded by the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) for being "too feminine".

Igun faced written sanctions from KPI for his perceived portrayal of femininity during his hosting of a TV program on Oct. 30, 2023. As a consequence, the fashion designer was dismissed from the show. This has led him to announce his intention to leave Indonesia temporarily and reside abroad starting next week, with an indefinite return date.

"Can't wait, next week I won't be in Indonesia anymore. I will be leaving Indonesia. So, for you all, don't miss me too much," said Ivan Gunawan in a TikTok video posted on @ivangunawan on Tuesday.

Despite residing abroad, Ivan Gunawan Putra assured his fans that they could still follow his activities through his social media accounts.

"Even though I will be living abroad, you can still see me on TikTok, still see me on IG (Instagram)," Igun told his 32.8 million followers on Instagram.

In his video, Ivan reiterated his decision to live abroad, expressing a desire to find solace from the issues he is currently facing.

"I will be staying abroad for a while, so to my friends watching this video, I also apologize if I have made any mistakes. To the netizens as well, I apologize for any annoyance caused by my actions. What's certain is that I will be leaving Indonesia next week. See you soon," Ivan concluded in his video.

Earlier, Igun clarified that his feminine look drew inspiration from 1960s fashion trends. He emphasized that it's a part of his identity, and he has no intention of altering it. Igun also conveyed his wish for future leaders to respect diverse lifestyle choices and personal styles while maintaining productivity in various domains.
