Jayanty Nada Shofa, Jakarta – President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo is set to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for a series of projects, including a mosque and a memorial park, in Indonesia's new capital Nusantara on Wednesday.

According to Agung Wicaksono, the deputy for investment at the Nusantara capital authority body, the Public Works Ministry will begin the construction of a mosque tomorrow. The ministry will also start building a memorial park.

"We will break ground on the State Mosque tomorrow. We will also have a memorial park, something similar to Washington DC's National Mall that boasts an Abraham Lincoln statue," Agung told a virtual press briefing on Tuesday.

Work on the capital authority body's office will commence. The Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (IDIC) will also hold its groundbreaking ceremony at the country's new capital that lies in East Kalimantan.

Jokowi will also launch some projects run by the state-owned enterprises, namely an RRI radio broadcast studio and a logistics hub by the postal office Pos Indonesia.

"If everything goes well, Mr. Jokowi will speak to Indonesians for the first time over a radio broadcast from the Nusantara capital," Agung said, commenting on the RRI studio.

There are also four private-owned projects that Jokowi will launch during his visit to Nusantara.

For instance, a Sun Hub warehouse and a five-star hotel by the hospitality firm Jambuluwuk Resort. Katadata Green, Benih Baik, and Jejakin will team up for a so-called "green boarding school". Last but not least is a Nusantara Warehouse Park by real estate developer Wulandari Bangun Laksana.

This will mark the fourth-phase groundbreaking ceremonies in Nusantara. The government will likely announce more details about the projects, including the value of each project, tomorrow. Non-state funding for the projects in Nusantara totaled approximately Rp 41 trillion ($2.6 billion) throughout last year.
