Tika Ayu, Jakarta – The spokesperson of the national team of Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar Billy David claimed that the spike of support from Indonesian fans of K-pop, famously known as K-popers was an organic phenomenon.

Recently, accounts affiliated with K-pop reportedly made a parody account dubbed 'aniesbubble' on the social media platform X, following a TikTok live conducted by the former governor of Jakarta.

During the live, Anies Baswedan interacted and joked with those watching his stream. "[The account] was not created by the campaigning team of Amin (Anies-Muhaimin)," he said when called on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024.

Amin's national team is grateful for the creator of 'aniesbubble', he went on, as the account contributed to an increase of support for the presidential candidate.

"People who believe and support [Anies Baswedan], they campaign in their own ways, including by making the 'aniesbubble' account to close the gap with Kpopers through fandom-like content," he explained.

Billy then referred to Anies Baswedan's previous live on TikTok, which he claimed had left an impression on those watching, especially the youth.

"The impression felt by netizens was that Mr. Anies can showcase an original character extending wisdom to youth about ideas, life, families, et cetera," he added.

The team, Billy explained, has observed the phenomenon. He claimed that those responsible for making the TikTok account of Anies Baswedan go viral were young people who cared about the current political situation.

"Amin's team found that the TikTok users were young people with political awareness and not just gimmicks," he concluded.
