Tempo.co, Jakarta – The Integrated Service Center for the Empowerment of Women and Children (P2TP2A) of South Tangerang City has received 307 reports of violence throughout 2023. Of this number, cases of domestic violence were the most with 49 cases.
"There are various types of violence against women and children, there are physical violence, sexual violence, domestic violence, and neglect. The most cases were domestic and sexual violence," P2TP2A head of integrated service unit Tri Purwanto said on December 26.
Of the 307 complaints received, 190 cases happened to children between the ages of 0 and 17 years.
In cases of violence against children, there were 78 reports of violence against boys, mostly in the form of physical or psychological violence. For girls, there were 112 cases of violence reported, mostly molestation with 45 cases.Meanwhile, there were 117 reports of violence against adult women, mostly cases of domestic violence with 49 reports.
"From the details of these reports, cases against male children usually happened in school, physical discrimination. Commonly involving student brawls," Tri Purwanto said.
Tri said that South Tangerang P2TP2A often experienced problems in resolving every violence problem it handled. "There are various obstacles. Sometimes, the obstacle comes from the victim's family. As we are here to protect the victim, the families often give excuses such as privacy. Sometimes they just don't want to continue the report. Plenty of obstacles."
When the cases of violence against children and women are prosecuted by law, the P2TP2A of South Tangerang provides legal advice and counseling as well as provides assistance until the case's ruling is in force (inkracht).
