Defara Dhanya Paramitha, Jakarta – The Deputy of Funding and Investment of the IKN Authority Agung Wicaksono invited potential investors from the US to contribute to the development of the new state capital project IKN (Nusantara Capital City).
"Indonesia and the US are both huge democratic countries implementing the presidential system," Agung said in a written statement on Tuesday, November 28, 2023.
According to Agung, a strategic partnership between both countries is important to realize a sustainable investment in Indonesia.
During a New York-based event, business and investment stakeholders from Indonesia and the US met. "This investment roadshow to the east coast of the US in New York and Washington DC is a follow-up to President [Joko Widodo's] instruction while he was on the west coast to attend APEC in San Francisco," he said.
Agung also hoped that this series of meetings could attract US investors to cooperate and invest in IKN to support its development.
"We believe that US investors are quite enthusiastic to cooperate with domestic investors to realize, for example, the [IKN] projects that have gone through the groundbreaking process which are a collaboration between domestic and foreign investors," Agung added.
On the same occasion, the Indonesian Consul in New York Winanto Adi stated that this cooperation would create a critical impact on the world. "The US has the rich experience and ability to develop a state capital, such as Washington DC," he said.
Thus, Wiananto believed that both countries could exchange knowledge to develop their respective state capitals. "Including how to face challenges and handle opportunities, including to collaborate in various sectors, such as infrastructure, education, health, and tourism relevant to the new state capital project," he concluded.
