Yohanes Maharso Joharsoyo, Jakarta – State-owned railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia or KAI would compensate passengers who experience delayed departures due to the Argo Semeru and Argo Wilis train accidents in Kulonprogo, Yogyakarta.
The compensation includes travel diversion using other trains, alternative modes of transportation, and refunds if the train departure is delayed.
"Refunds can be made at all stations online until D+7 of the departure date indicated on the ticket. We apologize for the inconvenience," KAI wrote on its official Instagram account, @kai121_ on Tuesday, October 17.
The compensation terms are detailed on KAI's Instagram account on Wednesday, October 18.
As previously reported, the Argo Semeru train (KA 17) serving the Surabaya Gubeng-Gambir route and the Argo Wilis train(KA 6) serving the Bandung-Surabaya Gubeng route crashed at KM 520 + 4 between Sentolo Station and Wates Station, Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta, at 01:15 local time on Tuesday, October 17.
Officials from PT KAI Regional Operation (Daop) 6 of Yogyakarta are still trying to evacuate all railway facilities affected by the accident that occurred on Wednesday, October 18.
