Ananda Bintang Purwaramdhona, Jakarta – The wife of Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Iriana Jokowi, reportedly would be granted the Bintang RI Adipradana award, as stated by Chairman of the Board of Honors (GTK) Mahfud MD.
Citing Presidenri.go.id, Iriana would be included in the list of 18 people who would be granted honors and awards, as said by Mahfud MD after meeting with President Jokowi on Thursday, August 3, at the State Palace.
"I conveyed the names that met the criteria to the President and he agreed. Eighteen people will receive awards and honors," he said.
The meeting was also attended by State Secretary Minister Pratikno, as well as GTK board members such as Moeldoko, Meutia Farida Hatta Swasono, and Anhar Gonggong.
Besides Iriana Jokowi, the wife of Vice President Ma'ruf Amin would also receive the title Bintang Mahaputera Adi Pradana based on the prevailing law.
"Bintang Republik Indonesia Adipradana to Ibu Iriana and Bintang Mahaputera Adipradana to Ibu Wury Handayani," said Mahfud at the Presidential Palace in Central Jakarta on Thursday, August 3.
"All the wives of previous presidents also received the same title based on the requirements set by the laws," he added.
The law mentioned by Mahfud in his press statement is Law Number 20/2009 overseeing Titles, Medals, and Honors.
