Hanifah Dwijayanti, Jakarta – Indonesian Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan or Zulhas fulfilled an invitation from Saudi Arabian Minister of Trade and Investment Majid Bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi to break the fast and pray at his private home in Jeddah, on Tuesday, April 18.
The event was also attended by Saudi Minister of State Secretary Mohammad bin Abdul Malik Al Ash-Shaikh.
On that occasion, Zulhas addressed the Saudi Trade Minister's commitment to increasing trade productivity. "The Saudi Trade Minister is committed to handling various economic and trade issues between the two countries," Zulhas said in an official statement, Wednesday, April 19.
Apart from that, he said that this meeting was also a follow-up to the Saudi Food and Drug Administration's (SFDA) decision to give an exception for Indonesian poultry products to be exported to Saudi on condition that they have gone through a heating process.
"In May, SFDA will carry out on-site inspections to 8 Indonesian Fish Processing Units so that Indonesian fishery products can enter Saudi Arabia," Zulhas explained.
Meanwhile, Saudi Trade Minister Majid Bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi said that the Saudi Prime Minister, Mohammad Bin Salman (MBS), had signed an agreement to form a Bilateral Committee for Saudi and Indonesia which consisted of 4 fields, viz. politics and security stability, trade and investment, social and culture, as well as security.
Saudi Arabian Minister of State Secretary Mohammad bin Abdul Malik Al Ash-Shaikh also expressed his gratitude for Indonesia's support for the planned international meeting in Riyadh in 2024 which will discuss intellectual property rights.
