Radhiyya Indra, Jakarta – A 22-year-old man was caught allegedly sneaking into the women's locker room and recording videos of visitors showering at Atlantis Water Adventures, a waterpark in Ancol, North Jakarta, on April 9.
In a viral video, a 31-year-old victim recounted how she had caught the man trying to record her through a crack in the top of a shower stall while she was fully undressed.
After the victim reported him to the police, investigators found other videos of women showering in the locker room that they said the man had recorded dating back to March 11.
"Sexual assault! In a bathroom! @atlantiswateradventures" wrote user @jeessicafr in a TikTok video that compiled the victim's Instagram stories.
North Jakarta Police Criminal Investigations Unit chief AKBP Iverson Manossoh said officers had arrested the alleged perpetrator. However, they claimed that since the 22-year-old did not capture the latest victim in full nudity, only recording the walls before being caught, the case could not be brought further. The police have handed him over to social services.
"We from Ancol management apologize for the incident," Ancol corporate communications manager Ariyadi Eko Nugroho told Kompas.com on Wednesday.
Ariyadi said the perpetrator was an employee at a restaurant in the Atlantis waterpark. He has since been banned from working in the area.
