M Julnis Firmansyah, Jakarta – President Joko Widodo or Jokowi will witness Anwar Usman take his oath as Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) today, March 20.
Usman, who is the president's brother in law, was reelected as Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court for the 2023-2028 period in the election last week.
The swearing-in will be carried out in the Special Plenary Session at 11:00 in the Plenary Session Room of the Court House I Building.
"His will take place after taking the oath of Constitutional Justice Anwar Usman and Constitutional Justice Saldi Isra who were elected as Chair and Deputy Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court," MK spokesman Fajar Laksono said on Monday.
Anwar Usman was elected in the third round after getting the same votes as Arief Hidayat by 4 to 4 during the Plenary Meeting for the election of the Chief Justice and Deputy MKs on March 15. The voting was carried out after deliberations to determine the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court did not find an agreement.
Nine judges participated in the election. In addition to Anwar Usman, there were also Arief Hidayat, Wahiduddin Adams, Suhartoyo, Manahan Sitompul, Saldi Isra, Enny Nurbaningsih, Daniel Yusmic Pancastaki Foekh, and Guntur Hamzah.
