Amy Heppy, Jakarta – Jakarta acting governor Heru Budi Hartono on Friday gave a short answer following questions about the capital city's plan to procure luxurious vehicles for city official transport. He only said that he would look into the plan.
"I am not aware. But I will look into it later," said Heru in Jakarta on March 3.
This vehicle procurement came under public scrutiny after the Jakarta provincial government planned to purchase an offroad vehicle from the US-brand Jeep that has a market value of Rp2.3 billion for each vehicle.
A document issued by the Government Goods/Services Procurement Policy Agency (LKPP) stated that the city will buy the Jeep as the acting governor's daily official vehicle. The dedicated offroad car is also procured for Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) Speaker Edi Marsudi as an official vehicle to commute around the city that barely has an offroad landscape.
Heru Budi claimed that he was only aware of the city's plan to purchase electric vehicles as official transportation for city officials. "It's electric vehicles if I'm not mistaken," said Budi.
